Note that this is a course you can do at your own pace. The exercises lead you step-by-step through the process of installing, configuring, deploying etcetera. The material consists of the following:

installation, the necessary software to set-up the environment:
software, contains the deployments (.ear and .war files) that are used in the exercises.
voorbeelden.zip (means examples.zip in Dutch), contains the code that is used to build the applications and an example configuration that you are going to set-up in the exercises.
weblogic-opgaven.pdf, the exercises. In the beginning of the exercises, references are made to a virtual environment. This environment can be anything you like. In the exercises a VMware virtual machine with Linux is taken as the basis.
weblogic-sheets.pdf, the sheets.

I was not able to do the deployment of SecurityComplete.war into my domain which is running on Centos+wls12. Looks like it been transferred using ascii format instead of binary or its corrupted. I tried to extract the deployables and i am getting the below error. In windows box i am not seeing any issues..

How did you copy the file to your CentOS environment? Did you use winscp (note that the defaults here could be wrong when you copy a file – better to choose binary instead of depending on the defaults).

There is not a standard version. You could take, for example, the most recent version.

I just created one sample domain in development mode , and tried to start the server , – but it fails.

Best option is to delete your domain and create it again (by creating it just accept the defaults and see what happens than).

You also have all kind of virtual directory errors (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16764_01/apirefs.1111/e10688/com/octetstring/vde/package-summary.html)

And now struck with apache setup.

Are you using CentOS with a public yum library, then it is easier just to pick the missing libraries, by using yum install apr (or something similar).

Yum will also take care of the required libraries needed by certain packages.

Usually packages are present in the /lib64 or the /usr/lib64 (/usr/lib64/apr-util-1)

With the help of “yum” command , i’m able to install all necessary packages or dependencies now.

Installed “Apache HTTP Server” successfully.

I’ll let you know further , if i’m struck elsewehere.

And that’s all the things in practicals , or your going to update more ??

Hi Rene,

Unable to stop/start apache after creating & copying mod_wl.conf and others.

/opt/apache/conf
-rw-r–r–. 1 root root 581 Oct 30 15:58 mod_wl.conf

/opt/apache/modules
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 330K Dec 2 2011 mod_wl.so

Error message :

[root@kiran bin]# ./apachectl start
httpd: Syntax error on line 501 of /opt/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 3 of /opt/apache/conf/mod_wl.conf: Cannot load /opt/apache/modules/mod_wl.so into server: /opt/apache/modules/mod_wl.so: undefined symbol: ap_log_rerror

ap_log_rerror is not a known directive, so Apache throws the error you are getting. A valid configuration looks, for example, as follows:

LoadModule weblogic_module "/home/weblogic/apache/modules/mod_wl.so"

Sorry for late reply!

Actually I do have correct configuration file called “mod_wl.conf”

My config file looks like this :
LoadModule weblogic_module “/opt/apache/modules/mod_wl.so”

ConnectTimeoutSecs 10
ConnectRetrySecs 2
DebugConfigInfo ON
WLSocketTimeoutSecs 2
WLIOTimeoutSecs 300
Idempotent ON
FileCaching ON
KeepAliveSecs 20
KeepAliveEnabled ON
DynamicServerList ON
WLProxySSL OFF

SetHandler weblogic-handler
WebLogicHost kiran
WebLogicPort 8001

And then i’ve added one line to httpd.conf file like
Include conf/mod_wl.conf

Now i tried restarting apache , and it fails with the same error like –

[root@kiran bin]# ./apachectl start
httpd: Syntax error on line 501 of /opt/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 3 of /opt/apache/conf/mod_wl.conf: Cannot load /opt/apache/modules/mod_wl.so into server: /opt/apache/modules/mod_wl.so: undefined symbol: ap_log_rerror

Suppose if i remove like from httpd.conf , apache starts properly , it works.

Not sure what further do i need to take.
Can you help me here.

Looks like something went wrong with the compilation and building of apache it self.

Could be some wrong packages are present (try something like the following):

yum clean all
yum update
yum install gcc
yum install gcc-c++
yum install apr
yum install elfutils-libelf-devel
yum install libaio-devel
yum install sysstat
yum install glibc-devel

What version of Apache are you using? (note that the weblogic proxy plug-in is not supported with Apache 2.4 only Apache 2.2)
Also another point could be the version of the weblogic proxy plug-in, for example, if you use Linux64 bit you have to use the
libraries present in WLSPlugin11g-64bitApache2.2-linux64-x86_64.zip (which is part of WLSPlugins11g-11.1.1.5.zip)

I’m able to test sample application with direct WebLogic port , and thru Apache – both works fine!

And the actual issue was – apache version , initially i’ve installed lastest version apache-2.4

So now after installing Apache-2.2 , everything starting working.

I just worked from the doc “weblogic-opgaven” , and I’m happy.. that I was able to test out things.

Are you going to update more exercise for practicing in the document? Or that’s all ending up in this course?
